The format for citing depends on the style your instructor has requested for your research paper. MLA and APA are the most common styles used at LCCC.
MLA Style
Last Name, First M. “Title of the Editorial.” Newspaper Title, Volume, Issue, Publication day Mon. year, p. number. Op-ed.
Gergen, David. “A Question of Values.” US News and World Report, 11 Feb. 2001, p. 72. Op-ed.
APA Style
Use the reference format for the type of publication in which the editorial was published. This example is for a newspaper:
Print:
Last Name, F. M. (Publication year, Month day). Title of letter [Letter to the editor]. Title of Newspaper, page number.
McHugh, J. (1993, June 10). It’s past time to make a change [Letter to the editor]. The Canberra Times, 12.
Online
If the letter you are referencing is sourced online, omit the page number and provide the URL
Last Name, F. M. (Publication year, Month day). Title of letter [Letter to the editor]. Title of Newspaper. URL
McHugh, J. (1993, June 10). It’s past time to make a change [Letter to the editor]. The Canberra
